This WebQuest is designed as a project based learning unit for a 5th grade earth science unit on constructive and destructive forces. If you are unable to open or use the documents in their current form send me an email and I will convert the forms to meet your needs if possible. Part 1 is the research and collaboration portion. Encourage your students to explore all of the resources. Don't let the graphic organizer limit what the students are learning.
Additional hands-on and guided inquiry experiences are also recommended during the unit as both learning activities and formative assessments.

ISTE Standards Students:
- Students are given choices of content, process, and presentation format throughout the WebQuest.
- Student groups may be based on student choice or instructor choice for collaborative support groups.
- I recommend using comprehensive reading and writing software like Solo 6 as assistive technology for students with reading and/or writing issues in order to allow the students to focus on the project research. Open documents in Solo 6 for access to ReadAloud, CoWriter and DraftBuilder. The instructor may want to add an Earth Science specific word bank to CoWriter. All web links including this website can also be opened in ReadAloud.
- ELL students - Review vocabulary using images prior to introducing the WebQuest.
- Consider student limitations and exceptionalities when forming teams. There may be times when your gifted students may need to work alone.
- Consider modification of the evaluation rubric as well. Understanding and participation in the process of design is more important than the product.
